Amouage to Premiere A New Scent As CJ Hendry Brings Flower Market to Abu Dhabi’s Craft & Code Exhibition

From a never-been-released perfume to an immersive flower garden featuring 200,000 fabric stems, ERTH Abu Dhabi’s new exhibition celebrates the past, present and future of Emirati creativity

Abu Dhabi’s Craft & Code exhibition aims to bring designers, artists, and technologists into the same space, but its most memorable moment is set to be felt first.

Australian artist CJ Hendry, best known for meticulous, large-scale hyperreal works, is set to bring her Flower Market to the Middle East, described as a fluorescence of 200,000 fabric stems, including blooms native to the UAE, reimagined as collectable art moments.

Meanwhile Amouage, the Omani luxury perfume house, will premiere a never-before-released fragrance in numbered collector formats, paying homage to the regional importance of frankincense.

Presented by Abu Dhabi Retail and taking place at ERTH, Abu Dhabi, from January 30 to February 1, Craft & Code is an exhibition built around the relationship between analogue technique and digital innovation. The programme opens with an invitation-only gala, before welcoming the public with live demos, workshops, and open tours, alongside commissioned installations and activations.

Also part of the lineup, luxury streetwear label Off-White will unveil a world-first capsule and limited one-off pieces curated with IB Kamara, Creative Director of the brand, while British Nigerian artist and designer Yinka Ilori is also part of the roster. A nod to the region’s pearl diving history comes courtesy of Gafla Jewellery, which presents a curated capsule of opulent tassel designs and precious metal pieces brimming with meaning.

The wider ambition of Craft & Code was summarised by Marne Schwartz, Managing Director of ITP Media Group: “Our ambition is simple, to celebrate, archive and export Arab creativity to a global audience. Abu Dhabi embodies that ambition, modern and progressive, yet proud of its roots.”
