The Hijri New Year, also known as the Islamic New Year, is going to be celebrated this week. The occasion marks the first day of the new Islamic calendar with the onset of the Islamic month of Muharram.

In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) announced that the holiday for the occasion will be on Sunday, July 7.

“The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that Sunday, 7th of July (1st Muharram), will be an official paid public holiday for all private sector establishments in the UAE in celebration of the new Hijri year 1446 AH,” read the MOHRE post.
