Jared Leto Will Be Starring As Karl Lagerfeld In Upcoming Biopic

The internet is going wild, and for a good reason – it was announced yesterday that Jared Leto will be playing one of the most historic fashion designers in the fashion industry in an upcoming biopic about Karl and his life as a designer.
Jared Leto and his partner, Emma Ludbrook, will be partnering with Karl Lagerfeld House in the production of the biopic which will be done through the couple’s production company – Paradox. According to WWD, the biopic will cover certain areas of Karl Lagerfeld’s life such as key relationships which will be told through an unpredictable lens, much like Karl himself.
Jared Leto took to Instagram to share the news, the photo was captioned “Karl has always been an inspiration to me. He was a true polymath, an artist, an innovator, a leader and, most importantly, a kind man,”
According to WWD, when the pair first met Jared told the fashion designer “You know, one day I have to play you in a movie,” to which Karl replied, “Only you darling, only you,”
Karl Lagerfeld, whose full name is Karl Otto Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer, photographer and creative director. The designer would become a household name when in 1983 he would become the creative director of the French fashion house, Chanel and later the creative director of the Italian fashion house, Fendi – until his death in 2019.
So, when can we expect to see the upcoming Karl Lagerfeld biopic?
The details of the upcoming biopic are still currently unknown – it is still in the early stages according to Jared Leto who spoke to WWD – and there is no director confirmed.
“It’s something I’m really passionate about. He was a great guy, we miss him a lot,” continued the actor.
