Jean Paul Gaultier Names Duran Lantink As Creative Director
Dutch designer Duran Lantik steps up to reinterpret the French maison’s rich legacy
Jean Paul Gaultier has officially named Dutch designer Duran Lantink as its new creative director, signifying forward and daring step for the French fashion house. Lantink, who is well-known for his innovative, disruptive style and dedication to sustainability, will steer the company into a new era by fusing Gaultier’s irreverent character with his own distinctive vision.
Duran Lantink first made headlines with his unconventional, upcycled designs—most notably dressing Janelle Monáe in his patchworked creations for her PYNK music video. His work challenges fashion’s wastefulness, deconstructing and repurposing deadstock and luxury garments into entirely new forms.

This philosophy resonates with Jean Paul Gaultier’s history of defying expectations, from gender fluidity on the catwalk to playful critiques of industry norms. The collaboration will debut Lantink’s first couture collection for the brand in January 2025—watch this space.
