Millennials Rejoice: Jelly Shoes Are Back

The shoe of the summer is not leather or suede. It is translucent, slightly squishy, a little nostalgic, and completely irresistible. From the Chloé jelly mule to the thong sandal, the jelly shoe has officially made its way back into the fashion conversation

Once a childhood staple found on beach holidays and playgrounds, the jelly sandal has returned with a more polished look. Maybe it’s the charm of something so fun, perhaps it’s the way these glossy little shoes transport us straight back to simpler summers. Either way, their appeal is impossible to ignore.

The comeback gained serious momentum after The Row featured colourful, netted jelly sandals in its Pre-Fall 2024 collection, sending models down the runway as if they stepped off a Mediterranean coast. Available in shades of blue, red, and clear, the rubber flats quickly became one of the season’s most talked-about accessories.

These new Jelly Mules playfully resemble the slip-on shoes many remember from childhood. The silhouette is simple: a peep-toe, easy slip-on shape that catches the light with every step.

These “invisible” jelly sandals from Alaïa take the trend in a more sculptural direction. With transparent, pointed jelly soles that seem to disappear against the skin, they create the illusion of barefoot dressing.
