Jumeirah Muscat Bay: Where Culture Meets Coastal Luxury
Jumeirah Muscat Bay manages to combine adventure with wellbeing and relaxation, in a stunning secret cove Omani setting
It may be just 30 minutes from the centre of the city – the picturesque drive through the rugged Al Hajjar mountains adding to the anticipation of arrival – but the moment you get whisked into the serene, soaring ceilinged-lobby of the hotel, perched on its own on a pristine cove, you feel the serenity of this special space. Part of a larger community that includes villas, the low-rise hotel has prime positioning, sheltered by the mountains on one side, and a golden sand beach overlooking the seemingly endless water in front.
When it comes to choosing rooms, we suggest you splash out on a corner suite; aside from the spectacular views, you’ll also get two balconies, a sprawling bathroom with sunken bath complete with Amouage Dia toiletries, plus an ample closet, kitchenette and living area. Every little thing has been thought of; we’ve never seen a hotel provide a beauty kit stocked with tweezers, scissors and nail files too.

Local culture is subtly woven into motifs across the hotel. Latticework, arches, and screens nod to Omani tradition, without it being at all overpowering, in keeping with the contemporary theme. Service is flawless, even on the long beach – order fresh coconut water at the waterside, casual Zuka café while slices of watermelon and fruit mocktails keep you constantly refreshed.

For families there are two pools (a small covered one for those eschewing the sun), plus a Kids’ Club which little ones are loathe to leave; everything from arts and crafts to shell gathering excursions and henna application is on offer in its organised itinerary. And
while the children are kept busy, there is no better time to check out the spa. Every hydrotherapy offering is included, with the treatments world-class.

Breakfast at all-day dining Peridot is a sumptuous affair – a spicy cheese toastie nodding to the Indian flavours that have permeated this coast – with cuisine spanning both European, Asian and Arabic stalwarts like egg shakshuka. Don’t miss out on sampling Italian Brezza; it is a destination in itself for both local Omanis and hotel residents alike. jumeirah.com
