In a brilliant move to mark UNICEF’s 75th year of partnership with India, Bollywood superstar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, has been announced as the organisation’s National Ambassador.

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s affiliation with UNICEF dates back to 2014, when she was appointed as a Celebrity Advocate. Since then, she has been a vocal advocate for various issues affecting children, including education, gender inequality, health and early childhood development.

Her dedication to the organisation has been resolute to say the least, particularly through the Covid. Emphasising the importance of children returning to school after the disruptions from the pandemic, her efforts have not only promoted awareness but also encouraged action towards ensuring every child’s right to education.
Expressing her commitment to the cause, Kareena told her Instagram followers, “There are few things as important as the rights of children, the future generation of this world. I am honoured to continue my association with UNICEF now as India’s National Ambassador.” Her emotional words expressed how poignant the cause and appointment are to her.
Her efforts are more than sheer advocacy; Kareena actively visits with communities and stakeholders to drive positive change. Visiting schools in rural areas, she has witnessed firsthand the impact of child-friendly schooling approaches in creating nurturing environment.
