All About Design, Dining and District Life at Kimpton KAFD Riyadh

How the first hotel to arrive in KAFD complements the district’s vision of integrated live-work-play urbanism

There’s a particular kind of thrill in arriving somewhere that seems to immediately understand your idea of the perfect hotel stay. Kimpton KAFD Riyadh, which opened on 12 August in the King Abdullah Financial District, gives precisely that welcome. As the brand’s first hotel in the Middle East, the 212-room property introduces Kimpton’s design-led sensibility and socially engaging spaces to Riyadh’s fast-paced evolution.

Rising across 16 floors, the hotel balances contemporary elegance with playful details (a Kimpton signature). Natural light floods public areas, a skywalk links the building to the metro, and rooms are equipped with thoughtful amenities: in-room yoga mats, luxury bedding, minibars stocked with locally inspired treats, generous bathrooms and workspaces intended for focused hours or quiet reflection. Artistic touches across the interiors reference Riyadh’s cultural heritage without feeling like decoration for decoration’s sake.

Dining at Kimpton KAFD is intentionally social. Botanica offers a leafy, sunlit setting where breakfast is the highlight and sharing plates slow your day down. Ziya basks in warm, golden light and serves composed dishes that come across as artfully intricate as they are flavourful, from artisanal pizzas to gourmet salads. Kanza, tucked away by the pool, offers respite from the city buzz as the evening falls, offering a menu designed for sharing. The Vinyl Ember is the most theatrical offering: dim lighting, a turntable, and a grill that turns cooking by flame into a performance, encouraging guests to stay longer to savour the experience.

Practicality and pleasure are held in equal measure. Kimpton KAFD’s outdoor pool deck offers a welcome pause between meetings, the state-of-the-art health club keeps routines intact, and flexible meeting and event spaces are equipped with advanced technology for seamless transitions from presentations to private celebrations.

“We’re incredibly proud of this game-changing property. We don’t see it as just opening another hotel, although it’s the first in KAFD. We’re excited to be drafting a new story in Riyadh’s future,” says Rabih Beaino, General Manager of Kimpton KAFD Riyadh. “We want every visit here to feel like you’re coming home to a new adventure. A comfortable and special place where our guests can feel free to be themselves, discover and share wonderful experiences they didn’t expect, and leave with memories they’ll want to relive again and again.”

KAFD, spanning 1.6 million square metres and conceived as Saudi Arabia’s first vertical city, could not be a more fitting choice for the brand’s first foray into the region. LEED-certified towers, residences, retail and pedestrian boulevards clustered around excellent public transport links create the immediate urban fabric gives Kimpton KAFD Riyadh its unique quality; as the district’s only hotel at the moment, it manages to sit within the city’s pulse rather than apart from it.
