Inside Loro Piana’s Workshop of Wonders at Harrods
The Italian luxury brand celebrates a milestone anniversary by decking out one of the world’s most famous department stores in the world with its signature cashmere
Yesterday, Loro Piana unveiled a whimsical takeover of Harrods – festive windows and all – to celebrate the Italian luxury brand’s 100th birthday. And what a way to celebrate; by dressing the world’s most famous department store in its pre-eminently luxe fibres and fabrics, from Vicuña to Pecora Negra.

As well as the giant façade – the first ever with moveable parts on the front of Brompton Road’s legendary store – Loro Piana decked out all 36 windows, as well as opened two pop-ups, and a pop-in, where you can craft your own festive ornaments from cashmere, shop a diminutive collection of kids-wear LP classics (we dare you not to be tempted by the baby white-sole loafers), and peruse the brand’s first homeware shop.
The celebrations continued with a seated dinner and cocktail at the Royal Academy of Arts, where international press and friends of the brand saw Christmas come early among pine trees and candlelight.

The concept of the Workshop of Wonders itself honours the luxury Maison’s rich heritage of exceptional attention to detail, renowned for using only the most exquisite materials, seamlessly fusing skilled artistry and virtuosity.
The grandeur of the Maison has been brought to life, inspired by a blend of marionette theatre and carefully constructed with intricate moving sets to mirror the behind-the-scenes mechanisms of traditional artisanal workshops.
The beautiful celebration of the Maison blurs the lines between fantasy and reality this winter season, transporting visitors on a magical journey through the exceptional history of Loro Piana. The takeover highlights a long-standing partnership with Harrods, one that visitors from across the world can enjoy in all its splendour.
