Louis Vuitton Launches LV Crayon, a Monogram-Shaped Lip Liner Designed by Pat McGrath

Louis Vuitton has introduced the LV Crayon, a new lip liner created with makeup artist Pat McGrath for the brand’s La Beauté line. The product brings runway makeup techniques into a long-wear lip liner focused on precision and control

Louis Vuitton is continuing its move into beauty with the launch of the LV Crayon, a lip liner at the centre of its La Beauté line, designed under the direction of makeup artist Dame Pat McGrath.

The LV Crayon is shaped based on the Louis Vuitton monogram flower and the idea of it is tied closely to McGrath’s runway work for Louis Vuitton, where lip definition often starts the whole look.

The product is designed to be used with LV Rouge lipstick and LV Baume to define, adjust, or reshape the lips. The formula is long-wear, with a focus on smooth application and control.

The LV Crayon essentially brings that backstage technique into an everyday product.

Design: The Louis Vuitton monogram flower

The most unique part of the LV Crayon is its shape. Instead of a standard pencil, it is formed in the shape of the Louis Vuitton monogram flower, created with designer Konstantin Grcic. It is instantly recognisable, but also designed to give better control during application.

Soft, creamy and long-wear

The formula is made to glide on easily with a soft, creamy texture. Once applied, it is designed to stay in place without feathering or moving. It also includes ingredients linked to lip care and smoothing, combining definition with comfort.

Shades: from nude and rose to browns and reds

The LV Crayon comes in ten shades, ranging from neutral tones to deeper colours. The palette includes nudes, rose tones, browns, and stronger reds and plums.

The range is designed to create different lip effects, from subtle definition to stronger shaping and contouring.

How it’s meant to be used

Louis Vuitton and Pat McGrath present several ways to use the LV Crayon. These are techniques often used by professional makeup artists, now adapted for everyday use.

They include softly blurred lip lines for a diffused effect, stronger overlining for more structure, and layering with lipstick for gradient or ombré looks. There is also a nod to the 1990s-style liner and balm combination, which has recently become popular again.

Accessories

The launch also includes supporting tools: a lip brush for blending or sharpening edges, a collectible-style sharpener, a beauty pouch for storing lip products, and a pencil case that holds the full LV Crayon range.
