Madonna Hospitalised For ‘Serious Bacterial Infection’ Two Weeks Before The Start Of Her World Tour

The 64-year-old pop icon’s ‘Celebration’ Tour set to start on July 15th has officially been postponed

Madonna’s manager, Guy Oseary, revealed on Instagram the songstress had contracted a “serious bacterial infection” on Saturday, which led to her stay at an intensive care unit for several days.

“Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour. We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows,” wrote Oseary.

The tour, produced by Live Nation, was set to begin in Vancouver, Canada–crossing oceans to New York, Paris, London, and Amsterdam. There’s been an overwhelming demand with 36 sold-out shows and counting with more than 600,000 tickets sold according to Live Nation Entertainment. More than 23 new dates have been added to the roster across North America and Europe to keep up with her fans worldwide.

In a game of Truth or Dare, Madonna first announced the tour in a video released back in January. “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” said Madonna. This will be her 12th tour and promises an unbelievable performance with songs spanning throughout her 40-year career.

While we await a new tour start date to be announced, we wish her a speedy recovery.
