All The Details of Melania Trump’s Inauguration Look
The new First Lady appeared elegant and composed at the official inauguration of her husband, before she debuting a striking monochrome gown for the Commander-in-Chief ball
Yesterday marked Inauguration Day in the US, and Melania Trump once again demonstrated her panache for sophisticated and timeless styling that strikes just the right chord. The First Lady arrived in a chic custom ensemble by New York designer Adam Lippes, paired with a coordinating hat by milliner Eric Javits. Adam Lippes praised the ensemble on social media, noting, “Mrs. Trump’s outfit was created by some of America’s finest craftsmen, and I take great pride in showcasing such work to the world.”

Melania’s outfit featured a double-breasted navy blue coat layered over a tailored silk-wool pencil skirt and a silk-crepe ivory blouse. The look was rounded off with a boater-style hat that partially concealed her face. Her choice of clean lines and structured silhouettes echoed her usual penchant for understated elegance, and reflected the all-business agenda of the event.

For the Commander-in-Chief Ball in the evening, Melania opted for a bold yet elegant look, changing into a strapless white satin gown with striking black line detailing around the bodice, designed by Hervé Pierre. She completed the look with a black satin choker adorned with a Harry Winston broach from the 1950s.

During her previous tenure as First Lady, Melania’s wardrobe often featured a mix of high-fashion couture and carefully selected American and European designers, relying on a repertoire of tailored coats, structured dresses, and statement accessories – we expect to see more of the same over the next four years.
