Messika Celebrates Its 20 Year Anniversary With A High Jewellery Extravaganza In Paris

An opulent runway show presented the maison’s latest high jewellery collection at Paris Fashion Week, showcasing scintillating diamonds and vibrant coloured gems

Messika unveiled its new high jewellery collection in Paris this week, with a glittering high jewellery show, held at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs as part of Paris Fashion Week. The “Terres d’Instinct” collection is inspired by the energy of Southern Africa, speaking to instinct and freedom interpreted with the maison’s signature modernity.

The show featured contributions from designers Feben and Vicnate, while the front row welcomed Carla Bruni, Eva Herzigova, Kiko Mizuhara, Simon Gong, Charlotte Lawrence, Ice Spice, Balqees, Da-Mi Kim, Soohyuk Lee, Taylor Hill, Cindy Bruna, Paz Vega, Ishaan Khatter, Demi Lovato and Erin Kellyman. The evening opened with a live performance by Senegalese icon Youssou N’Dour, followed by an exclusive after-party featuring Nigerian Afrobeats stars Davido and Omah Lay and a DJ set by Shivana.

Founded in 2005 by Valérie Messika, the brand’s artistic director, the maison is now synonymous with daring diamonds. The daughter of an accomplished diamantaire, Valérie came into the industry with a clear vision of the design DNA she wanted to bring to life with her own brand, and its bestselling collections such as Move and Noa are now instantly recognisable.

The collection made one thing clear – statement cuffs are far from exiting our jewellery capsule wardrobe, while long, multi-layered chains were another key piece. Traditional matchy-matchy suites are not in the Messika vernacular, but striped bangles were paired with corresponding rings – the ultimate duo for after-dark dressing while stripes and skins rule the runways at large.
