From avant-garde silhouettes to unexpected twists on classic tailoring, 2025’s blue carpet was a showcase of individuality and cultural statements, but there were some ultra-eccentric moments to note too.
See our round-up of the slightly more out-there looks at the Met Gala 2025.
Jenna Ortega in Balmain
Jenna Ortega dazzled at the 2025 Met Gala in a custom Balmain gown by Olivier Rousteing, perfectly aligned with the evening’s ‘Tailored for You’ theme. Her strapless metallic silver dress, crafted from sculpted steel rulers, was a nod to traditional patternmaking. Styled by Enrique Melendez, Ortega completed the look with diamond jewellery from Hearts on Fire and Grown Brilliance and silver platform heels by Christian Louboutin.
Myha’la in Luar
For her Met Gala debut, Myha’la Herrold teamed up with Raul Lopez of Luar to deliver a historically rooted look inspired by Black Christian Tudors of the 1600s. The ensemble featured a sharply structured grey wool mini dress with a dramatic collar layered over a crystal-studded bodysuit. Her look was completed with thigh-high stiletto boots from Lopez’s new collaboration with Timberland, reimagining the iconic boot in luxe silk moiré.
Janelle Monáe in Thom Browne
Janelle Monáe, styled by Alexandra Mandelkorn, made a striking statement at the 2025 Met Gala in a custom Thom Browne creation designed in collaboration with costume designer Paul Tazewell, known for his work on Broadway, including Hamilton and The Color Purple. The outfit featured trompe l’oeil bold black and white pinstripes contrasted with red and white geometric patterns upon a boxy, bold overcoat, removed to reveal an elaborately tailored asymmetric suit underneath.
Whoopi Goldberg in Thom Browne
Whoopi Goldberg embraced the 2025 Met Gala theme with a custom Thom Browne ensemble. She wore a floor-length black buttoned dress paired with a dramatic white textured coat, featuring sculptural, voluminous sleeves. Her look was topped with a formal black top hat with veil detailing, a black tie, and a white pocket square, adding a tuxedo-inspired touch. Goldberg completed the outfit with silver hoop earrings, statement rings, and a small black and white handbag, all adding to the theatrical flair.
Khaby Lame in BOSS
Khaby Lame made a memorable Met Gala debut in a custom BOSS suit by Marco Falcioni. Styled by Ugo Mozie, the Senegalese-Italian star wore a grey pinstripe three-piece suit with a crisp white shirt and classic tie. The highlight was a waistcoat embellished with vintage pocket watches, said to symbolise the passage of time and Khaby’s journey from silent social media creator to leading tastemaker. Finished with black-and-white wingtip shoes, the look blended archival tailoring with a playful, personal twist.
Mona Patel in Thom Browne

Mona Patel’s standout accessory at the 2025 Met Gala wasn’t just her hat—it was her robotic dog, Vector. Designed in collaboration with MIT and inspired by Browne’s iconic dachshund, Hector, Vector stole the spotlight with a sleek tuxedo design, a 1000 carat emerald cut diamond leash, and customised movement patterns. Fully robotic and brimming with personality, Vector was programmed with sensors and a sassy strut, perfectly complementing Patel’s theme. More than just a fashion statement, the high-tech pup merged couture with cutting-edge innovation, making Vector one of the most memorable appearances on the Met Gala carpet.
