Thankfully, Omani residents and nationals in both the private and public sectors can expect 2 more days off before the end of the year, meaning that a 4 day long weekend is on the horizon!
Oman Public Holidays 2023: 2 More Days To Save
Mark your calendars! The Sultanate of Oman has declared Wednesday, November 22 and Thursday the 23rd as an official holiday for the public and private sectors to celebrate Oman’s 53rd National Day.
From dining out to scheduling a bit of “me time” at the salon, to participating in national festivities, there are numerous ways to celebrate Oman’s national day this year. Just take a look at some of the best activities to get the most out of this 4 day-long weekend.
As per the Royal orders of His Majesty the Sultan, it has been decided that Wednesday and Thursday, 22-23 November 2023, will be an official holiday for the public and private sectors on the occasion of the 53rd National Day.

What is Oman National Day?
Oman’s National Day originally falls on November 18th and celebrates Oman’s independence from Portugal’s control in 1650. This holiday is the start of a two-day break, as November 19th is also a public holiday that celebrates the birthday of the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Said al Said. In cases where these days coincide with a weekend, an alternative day may be selected, such as during this year.
When is the next public holiday after Oman National Day?
Private and public sector workers in Oman can expect their next long weekend or holiday to occur in April 2024, during Eid al-Fitr. While the exact dates are pending the lunar calendar and moon sightings, the holiday is expected to occur around Wednesday, April 10 – Friday, April 12, 2024 — meaning public and private sector employees can count on having a few days off.
