Pantone Announces Its 2026 Colour Of The Year: Cloud Dancer
Pantone’s 2026 Colour of The Year evokes clarity, calm, and innovation
Each year the Pantone Institute of Colour ties together culture and colour, engaging a global audience by showcasing cultural expression through the universal language of colour. What began as a reflection of the emotions and feelings evoked through colour, has now grown into a worldwide movement.
Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Colour Institute says, “Colour is the most important powerful communication tool. It is the first thing we see and the first thing we connect to. The colour we select to be our Pantone Colour of the Year is bigger than one region or one sector of design. It is a colour we see crossing all areas of design; a colour that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude on the part of the consumers, a colour that will resonate around the world, a colour that reflects what people are looking for, a colour that can hope to answer what they feel they need.”
This year, Pantone has selected a shade of white – echoing new beginnings, purity, and a sense of calm. Cloud Dancer is symbolic of the age we live in, a time when the world is rapidly shifting and change is constant. This spot of clarity serves as a steady reminder of the resilience we strive to hold onto amid uncertainty and chaos.
“At this time of transformation, when we are reimagining our future and our place in the world, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discrete white hue offering a promise of clarity. The cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.” Says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
Shifting from this year’s warm brown hue, Mocha Mousse, Cloud Dancer offers a versatile palette that aligns seamlessly across everything from apparel to furniture. Highlights from Pantone’s partnerships – including Joybird, Motorola, Post-it, Play-Doh, and Pura – showcase how the shade is being reimagined through physical form, fragrance, and texture.
Leatrice says, “it’s a lofty colour that reads like a breath of fresh air. It’s about opening our minds to the possibility of innovative new things and fresh ideas that clarify.”
