A Fresh Perspective: Read Harper’s Bazaar Saudi Ed’s Letter

Acting Group Editor in Chief Natasha Farque shares her thoughts on how to harness the quiet power of Holy Month

Starting anew – that is the spirit of this issue, and it feels especially fitting as we approach the ninth month of the Islamic calendar: the most sacred time of the year for Muslims. With the arrival of Ramadan comes the beginning of fasting, but also something far deeper. Much like the Gregorian New Year, the Holy Month offers a precious opportunity to pause, reflect and reassess. It is a time for renewal. A moment to realign priorities and embrace meaningful change.

Some shifts happen naturally. We spend more time with family. We eat and drink more mindfully – and with greater gratitude. Other changes require intention and resolve, particularly if we hope to carry these renewed habits and perspectives beyond the month itself. Ramadan invites us not only to reset, but to sustain that reset.

In these pages, we explore transformation in its many forms. Our cover star, model Lais Ribeiro, is ensuring her voice and convictions are as powerful as her image. We celebrate Arab beauty founders who are breaking barriers and reshaping their industries. We highlight the designers unveiling new Ramadan collections, explore modest styling with a contemporary edge, and spotlight inspiring entrepreneurs such as cake queen Nadia Parekh, who has relaunched her business bigger and better than ever.

Here’s to fresh beginnings – and to making them last.
