Sotheby’s Abu Dhabi Presents The Ultra-Rare Pink Desert Rose Diamond For Sale Next Week

In partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Sotheby’s will unveil an exceptional selection of rare masterpieces spanning art, fashion, and fine jewellery this December, including a one-of-a-kind pink diamond, The Desert Rose, weighing over 30 carats

If you’re struggling to work out what to pop at the top of your festive wishlist, then Sotheby’s Collectors’ Week sale might be the place to find some seriously scintillating inspiration. Among a total inventory estimated at $1 billion – from cars and masterpiece artworks to rare timepieces and much, much more – lies an extraordinary array of fine jewellery and gems. The sale includes rarefied white diamonds, precious coloured stones, alongside vintage and modern pieces signed by acclaimed maisons, but there is one lot in particular that has truly captured the luxury world’s attention – the Desert Rose pink diamond.

The largest Fancy Vivid Orangy Pink diamond in the world, the stone was first unveiled in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, where its remarkable size, pear shape silhouette and impeccable cut stood out among a larger presentation of rare diamonds. The stone weighs an incredible 31.86 carats – unheard of for a stone of this colour – and displays a unique watermelon pink and sunset orange hue.

The stone is estimated at $5 – 7 million, and is set to take to the stage at 6pm GST on December 5. It will be joined by an exclusive selection of rare watches and jewels, including a Rolex Oyster Albino Daytona (est. $500,00 – 1 million), an Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring by Tiffany&Co. with a 5.61 carat Kashmir sapphire (est. $350,000 – 550,000) and a Boucheron ring featuring a 7.88 carat Colombian emerald (est. $300,000 – 500,000) – best to make sure that Santa has his paddle at the ready.
