Sotheby’s Returns to Abu Dhabi With “Collectors’ Edit: Materiality” Auction

From five rare Hemmerle jewellery pieces to a Hermès Midas Kelly and a Bugatti Chiron, Sotheby’s new Abu Dhabi auction celebrates luxury in its most elemental form

Sotheby’s has returned to Abu Dhabi with a new luxury online auction titled Collectors’ Edit: Materiality, running from 24 June to 10 July 2026. The sale is estimated between USD 6.6 million and USD 9.7 million, bringing together over 30 curated pieces across high jewellery, rare watches, collectible cars and exceptional design objects.

The concept of the auction centres on materiality highlighting the elemental components that define luxury, from gold, platinum and diamonds to titanium, carbon fibre and rare gemstones. It reframes high-value objects by drawing attention to the materials that shape them.

Highlights include five rare pieces by German jewellery house Hemmerle, known for its experimental use of unconventional materials, alongside jewellery from Bvlgari and Van Cleef & Arpels. The watch selection features leading names such as Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, Rolex, F.P. Journe and Audemars Piguet.

A standout lot is the Hermès Midas Sellier Kelly 25 in black box leather with 18-carat yellow gold hardware, a highly limited piece with fewer than 30 believed to exist. The auction also includes a Bugatti Chiron, a Mercedes-Benz 500 GE 6.0 AMG, and collectible automotive design pieces.
