On Saturday, 20th September 2025, Spartan Middle East is set to debut the UAE’s very first Spartan ‘City’ race inside the iconic Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. This first-of-its-kind event promises to shake up the region’s fitness calendar – with grit, glory, and climate-controlled comfort.
This fast-paced new format challenges participants (age 14+) with a 3-kilometre course packed with 15 signature Spartan obstacles – all designed for intensity, agility, and accessibility. And while most of the race unfolds within the Arena’s world-class indoor facilities, a small outdoor segment ensures you still get that hit of fresh Yas Bay air.
Tailored for newcomers, seasoned Spartans, and corporate teams alike, the ‘City’ race strips away the mud and mountains, but keeps the adrenaline, competition, and camaraderie alive. Whether you’re looking to crush your personal best or bond with colleagues through sweat and cheers, this course offers something for everyone.
And the action doesn’t stop with adults. Spartan Kids races will run alongside the main event, offering three age-appropriate distances: 1km for ages 4–6, 1.5km for ages 7–9, and a full 3km race for junior warriors aged 9–14. It’s a thrilling way for younger athletes to test their limits in a safe, structured environment.
Every finisher – big or small – will be rewarded with a Spartan T-shirt, a medal that says “I did it,” and the ultimate post-race treat: a well-deserved banana.
The venue? None other than Etihad Arena – the largest indoor multipurpose venue in the Middle East.
