Top Travelling Tips From The Harper’s Bazaar Arabia team

Need recommendations for your next holiday read? Or your by the pool playlist? Let the Bazar Arabia team share their top holidaying tips…

Olivia Phillips, Editor at Large

Summer plans: A beautifully chaotic, big fat Greek family trip to Cyprus (12 of us and counting), a surprise jaunt for my husband’s 40th, and a quick hop to Lebanon for a very special wedding.

Top travel tip: I travel so much that I have a pre-packed cosmetics bag that I never empty. It saves me oodles of time. I never jet off without: Multivitamins, sheet masks and a notebook.

Bucket list destination: Mexico City is top of my list for the food, the art, the colour and the vibe. Tacos and dancing? I’m in.

Wanderlust movie: The Darjeeling Limited

Natasha Faruque, Acting Editor in Chief

Summer plans: I’m such a cliché – I join the Middle Eastern contingent and decamp to London and the Cotswolds. Quick trips to Monaco and Marbella ensure I get a dose of beach club posing too.

Top travel tip: Always leave a tip for housekeeping in your room when you check-out. They are the unsung heroes of the hospitality industry. I never jet off without: A phone charger; wifi on flights means my battery is always running out.

Bucket list destination: Bhutan; direct flights have just started from Dubai and the country’s cap on visitor numbers via a [high] daily tourism fee means it retains its serene, exclusive allure.

Wanderlust book: Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts; it goes to show that the truth really is stranger than fiction.

Summer plans: I’ll be spending a good part of the season sprinkling confetti in Lebanon, celebrating love and giving all my fabulous gowns their moment. Then it’s off to Ibiza with the girls for sun-soaked lunches and barefoot dancing under the stars.

Top travel tip: Plan and snap your looks (yes! take pictures) – the secret to a light suitcase and zero style stress.

I never jet off without: A playlist that matches the mood, from airport chill to golden-hour cocktails.

Bucket list destination: I’m certainly more pareo than parka, but Finland’s snow-dusted forests, the Northern Lights and husky sleds are calling.

Wanderlust movie: The Talented Mr. Ripley

Summer plans: Visiting family in Provence followed by hiking in the French Alps and (fingers crossed) a trip Down Under.

Top travel tip: Pack three colours, always take a swimsuit, a striped jumper and travel sickness tablets.

I never jet off without: My laptop, Hermès scarves (in various sizes and colours) and good-luck travel trinkets from my daughter.

Bucket list destination: Argentina so I can ride horses in the mountains.

Wanderlust movie: I watch The Birds on every single Emirates flight I take.

Charlie Boyd, Digital, Jewellery & Watches Editor

Summer plans: After a quick trip to Milan to see Bvlgari’s latest jewellery collection, I will be flying straight to London to visit all my loved ones back home. It’s a year since I hugged my grandma, which is far too long.

Top travel tip: If you’re travelling with kids, pack their clothes in outfit bundles – no messy digging around in cases that you struggle to repack.

I never travel without: The necklace that has my two sons’ fingerprints cast in gold.

Bucket list destination: New York in the snow. I’ve only ever experienced NYC in sweltering heat, and I’m a sucker for a horse-drawn carriage in Central Park.

Wanderlust movie: Disney Pixar’s Up. For me, travelling with someone, or for someone, is the greatest adventure.
