Miranda Priestly Is Set To Return In The Devil Wears Prada Sequel
The fashion industry’s favourite villain will return to our screens in Disney’s newly announced sequel
There are tough bosses, and then there is Miranda Priestly. Since The Devil Wears Prada’s 2006 release, the fictional editor of Runway magazine, played by Maryl Streep, has become known for her withering stares and advocacy for the colour blue… I mean, cerulean. Needless to say, a peek over the bridge of her trademark sunglasses is enough to make any intern quiver in fear.

It has been confirmed that Maryl Streep will reprise her Miranda Priestly role and Emily Blunt will be playing her character Emily Charlton, however, it is unclear whether Anne Hathaway who plays Andrea, ‘Andy’ Sachs, will return to the movie or not.
Rumours of a sequel began to swirl after all three cast members reunited on the runway at the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in February of this year.

While the film’s original director, David Frankel, is as yet unconfirmed on the project, original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is working on a script to be developed by Oscar-winning film producer Wendy Finerman, who backed the original film. Based on Lauren Weisberger’s novel of the same name, the first film grossed over $326 million dollars, so the bar is set high for a follow-on.
The storyline reportedly follows Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of her Runway magazine, facing “the dystopian post-aughts realities of the magazine business” and goes head-to-head with her former assistant Emily Charlton, now a “high-powered executive at a luxury group whose advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.”

The announcement has sparked much excitement amongst fans. What new drama awaits? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – the sequel promises to deliver the same sharp wit and unforgettable glamour that made the original a cultural phenomenon.
That’s all.
