The Escape: Let Ibiza Six Senses Show You A New Side Of The Balearics
The antithesis to the Balearic Island’s hedonistic heyday, Six Senses Ibiza embraces the White Isle’s calmer side with a serene spa, nutritious food and exceptional design
When most people hear Ibiza, they think of world-famous DJs, mega clubs and parties that end at sunrise. In recent years, however, the White Isle has done its best to shake off its raucous reputation with an influx of wellness resorts aimed at high-end clientele, with Ibiza Six Senses the name on everyone’s lips.

Serving up both sundowners and self-care in abundance, this chic five-star hotel comes nestled into the rocks overlooking the picturesque Xarraca Bay in the much-loved bohemian north of the island, a world away from the likes of San Antonio and Ibiza Town. Designed to help rest, refuel and reset, it is considered to blend in with the natural surroundings, complete with 116 rooms, villas, suites and beachfront caves, as well as a number of Village Residences with intimate terraces, lush gardens and pools that are perfect for those looking for a permanent hideaway in the Mediterranean. Don’t mind if we do.

The Six Senses group has built its stellar reputation around its commitment to wellbeing and community, and the Ibizan outpost is no different. Not only does it boast an impeccable roster of classes and courses from yin yoga and primal movement to cookery, pickling and ceramics, but the 13,000sq ft spa is the star of the show – perhaps only matched by the picturesque infinity pool – home to a vitality pool, hammam, steam room, sauna, cryotherapy chamber and an ‘Alchemy Bar’ where you can blend your own essential oils to carry on the good work back home.
Ingredients for treatments are grown in the nearby gardens, while the hotel runs one-off retreats with guest practitioners throughout the year too. Speaking of longevity (as is everyone right now), be sure to check out RoseBar while you’re at it, a 5,000sq ft longevity club where guests can book one, three, or seven-day immersive programs that use epigenetic data to create a personalised plan that focuses on immunity, rejuvenation, optimisation, renewal and spiritual wisdom.

If all that healing has you feeling peckish then you’re in luck – chefs here are serious about food, which is all organic and seasonal, with plenty grown on-site. That’s not to say it’s too healthy though (you’re on holiday after all), so turmeric shots can be enjoyed alongside sausages at breakfast, while fresh sea bream with grilled vegetables and beetroot carpaccio can also be substituted for a cheesy pizza. Oh, and if all of that wasn’t enough, Six Senses Ibiza also happens to be the first hotel in the Balearics to achieve BREEAM certification, the prestigious benchmark for environmentally friendly construction. Is there anything it can’t do?
