The Ultimate Halloween Queen: 25 Years Of Heidi Klum’s Best Costumes

If anyone knows what true dedication to Halloween transformations looks like, itโ€™s Heidi Klum

From enduring 10-hour makeup sessions to dropping $10 million on a costume, the supermodel and TV host has turned spooky season into a high-fashion and high-drama spectacle. Every year, Klum hosts what is arguably the most iconic Halloween party in Hollywood – a star-studded affair known not just for its guest list, but for its jaw-dropping transformations. The celebration has become so iconic, it even earned its own nickname -“Heidiween”- perfectly capturing her larger-than-life approach to the holiday. Her goal? To leave everyone speechless – and she never fails.

Here, Bazaar Arabia rounds up 21 of Heidi Klumโ€™s most iconic Halloween costumes that showcase her creativity and dedication like no other.

Medusa, 2025

For their latest striking transformation, Heidi Klum and her husband Tom Kaulitz made a dramatic and unforgettable appearance at the Hard Rock New York Hotel. Klum took on the persona of the mythical Greek monster Medusa, while Kaulitz portrayed a Greek soldier turned to stone – a direct reference to the legend in which anyone who meets Medusaโ€™s gaze is instantly petrified.

Creating the intricate Medusa look required the efforts of 15 artists, who meticulously hand-painted her makeup. The ensemble was completed with lifelike, writhing snakes adorning her headpiece, a set of sharp fangs, and a long serpentine tail, blending theatricality with meticulous craftsmanship. The result was a bold and captivating display of creativity, reaffirming Klumโ€™s reputation for extraordinary and immersive costume transformations.

E.T., 2024

At 2024 Halloween party, Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz appeared as fictional aliens inspired by Steven Spielbergโ€™s E.T. Heidi portrayed a female version, complete with striking blue eyes, blond hair, a black scarf, a hat, and a red shawl, while Tom embodied the male counterpart. The costumes were brought to life with detailed prosthetics and makeup that replicated the iconic characterโ€™s bulging eyes, distinctive head shape, and elongated fingers. Together, their look was a playful and unexpected twist on the beloved sci-fi classic.

Peacock, 2023

In 2023, Heidi chose a striking group costume, transforming into a peacock with a troupe of Cirque du Soleil performers serving as her elaborate feathers. Her husband, Tom Kaulitz, complemented the theme by arriving as a giant egg. On the red carpet, Klum explained the concept behind her look: she loved the idea of a peacockโ€™s feathers being represented by people who could fan out and amplify the moment.

Worm, 2022

It was expected that for the first post-COVID-19 pandemic Halloween party, Heidi would try to outdo herselfโ€”although no one anticipated seeing her as a worm, with her husband Tom as the fisherman who has her hooked. The supermodel spent 12 hours completing this look. Their coupleโ€™s costume was undoubtedly the best Halloween outfit of the year.

Fiona, 2018

In 2018, Heidi and her husband Tom Kaulitz dressed up as Princess Fiona and Shrek. To achieve the look, a team of special-effects artists transformed them using green skin paint, prosthetic ears, noses, hands, feet, and more. The look was completed with an adorable detail โ€” a trolley filled with baby ogres.

Werecat, 2017

For her 2017 look, Klum took inspiration from Michael Jackson’s Thriller, appearing as a werecat. No detail from the original look was missed: she wore a letterman jacket identical to the one from the music video over an open plaid shirt, paired with rolled-up jeans and loafers with ankle socks. The makeup team spent seven hours creating her spooky appearanceโ€”applying prosthetics to her face, hands, teeth, and torsoโ€”and finished the look with yellow contact lenses for a truly scary effect.

Clones, 2016

In 2016, Heidi didnโ€™t need to spend much time preparing for her Halloween celebration, as she appeared dressed asโ€ฆ herself. However, her โ€œcostumeโ€ was accompanied by five lookalike women. All of them wore matching outfits: Hervรฉ Lรฉger by Max Azria bodysuits and beige thigh-high suede boots.

Butterfly, 2014

For 2014, Heidi chose to embody a human-sized butterfly with the help of a colorful bodysuit, huge wings, and five hours of makeup. Accents such as antennae and compound eyes made the ensemble realistic and truly iconic.

95-Year-Old Heidi, 2013

One of Klumโ€™s most memorable looks that defined a new era of Halloween dressing was her take on an older version of herself. She used the power of prosthetic makeup to give herself wrinkled skin, liver spots, and visible veins, finishing the look with a gray wig. The outfit featured a floral blouse, a tweed skirt, a pearl necklace, a leather clutch bag, and ballet flats.

Golden Cleopatra, 2012

While teasing her Halloween costume in 2012, Heidi wore a gorgeous gown inspired by the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. The all-gold outfit was created in collaboration with designer Martin Izquierdo and featured a maxi dress, matching cape, jewellery, and headdress. That year, the supermodel postponed her Halloween celebration until December in solidarity with the victims of Hurricane Sandy, which hit NYC just before Halloween.

Human Cadaver, 2011

For her first look at the 2011 Halloween party in Las Vegas, Klumโ€™s ensemble highlighted her dedication to detail and creativity. The supermodel stunned guests by embodying a meticulously crafted depiction of the human body stripped down to its core anatomy, brought to life through the artistry of Martin Izquierdo.

Ape Couple Look, 2011

At her second celebration at the PH-D Rooftop Lounge in New York City, Heidi and her ex-husband Seal wore a truly memorable ape couple costume. The ensemble featured lifelike faux fur and detailed prosthetics, including mammary glands and ears. According to the supermodel, it took nearly six hours to apply the make-up.

Robot, 2010

At her 2010 Halloween party, she fully embraced the futuristic trend with her striking two-ton, towering robot costume. The sci-fi-inspired look featured a metallic helmet-style headpiece adorned with intricate robotic details, perfectly matched by her glittering purple and red contact lenses. Her shimmering bodysuit, complete with structured, armour-like elements, was elevated even further with towering stilts.

Feathered Crow, 2009

Animal inspiration has long been a go-to for Klumโ€™s Halloween looks, and her 2009 crow costume was no exception. Draped in black fishnet tights and thigh-high boots, she transformed into a striking bird of the night. Despite an elaborate headpiece covering much of her face, Klum didnโ€™t hold back on make-upโ€”long lashes and bold face paint added a fierce, theatrical edge to the ensemble, proving once again her commitment to Halloween artistry.

Velvet Cat, 2007

At her 2007 Halloween party, Heidi Klum went for a simpler costume. She dressed as a glamorous cat, complete with glittery eye makeup, coloured contacts, fangs, a stick-on nose and whiskers, and sky-high platform heels. Adding a playful personal touch, she wore a collar around her neck that read: “If Lost, Please Return to Seal.”

The Forbidden Fruit, 2006

In 2006, Klum got inventive with her Halloween costume by incorporating her baby bump into the theme. She dressed as the forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden, cleverly using her pregnancy to mimic the appleโ€™s round shape. The elaborate costume, however, came with challengesโ€”she was unable to fit into a regular car and had to switch to a convertible at the last minute. Once at the party, the oversized outfit made it nearly impossible for her to sit or even lift a drink, turning the creative concept into a bit of a struggle.

Vampire, 2005

Klum embraced a dramatic vampire persona for her 2005 Halloween party. She wore a black minidress lined with red tulle, paired with a sheer black cape embroidered with cobwebs. Completing the look were black patent leather thigh-high boots, fishnet tights, and a striking plastic bleeding heart attached to her dress. A voluminous black curly wig added the final gothic touch.

Betty Boop, 2002

For her third year hosting Halloween, Heidi went for a spooky take on Betty Boopโ€”complete with sharp fangs hidden under her classic red lips. The outfit came together with her hair and makeup: a black wig styled in Bettyโ€™s signature curls, plus some seriously bold lashes that made her look like sheโ€™d stepped right out of a cartoon.

Lady Godiva, 2001

For her second Halloween event, Heidi Klum took things to a dramatically darker level, channeling a bloodied version of Lady Godiva. With crimson dripping from her mouth, Klum offered a macabre twist on the legendary English noblewoman. Rather than stay completely true to the legend, she opted for a floor-length platinum wig and a shimmering white bodysuitโ€”conservative by Godivaโ€™s standards, but unmistakably Heidi in execution.

Gothic Heidi, 2000

For her first Halloween party, Heidi Klum embraced a gothic-inspired look featuring shiny patent leather, spike-adorned accessories, and shimmering bangle bracelets. She styled her hair in two long braids reminiscent of Pippi Longstocking. The bold ensemble marked the beginning of Klumโ€™s now-iconic tradition of donning increasingly elaborate Halloween costumes.
