Thunderstorms in The UAE: All the highlights from yesterday’s stormy weather here.
It’s shaping up to be a very wet start to the weekend, as the UAE sees its second day of rain, lightning, and thunderstorms.
The National Center of Meteorology has most of the UAE still on a yellow alert (i.e. to be on the lookout during outdoor activities), while Dubai Police are encouraging everyone to drive safely during these conditions.

UAE government schools will be doing distance learning on Friday, while public sector and government workers will be working from home. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) is advising all private education institutions in Dubai to be flexible when considering the needs of parents and students and to consider providing the option of distance learning.

According to The National, on average the UAE records about 100 millimetres of precipitation a year, however, last year 18 month’s worth of rain poured down over the emirates in just 3 days; Dubai sees approx. 25 days of rain per year
