While some dates are subject to official announcement as per lunar sightings, it’s looking like the following dates will be holidays in the UAE in 2023, according to Time Out Abu Dhabi…

Gregorian New Year’s Day: Sunday, January 1

Eid Al Fitr: Thursday, April 20; Friday, April 21st, Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23 (Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3)

Arafah Day: Tuesday, June 27 (Dhul Hijjah 9 potentially)

Eid Al Adha: Wednesday, June 28; Thursday, June 29; and Friday, June 30.  

Hijri New Year: Friday, July 21

Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Birthday: Friday, September 29

Commemoration Day: Friday, December 1

National Day: Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3

UAE 2023 Long Weekends

In 2023, we’re expecting to have two UAE Eid Holidays – one for Eid al-Fitr and another for Eid al-Adha. Official announcements of the exact dates of the holidays won’t be revealed until the lunar sightings, which typically occur days before.  

When is Eid al-Fitr 2023?

With Ramadan 2023 expected to begin around March 22, 2023 and conclude sometime around April 21, 2023 UAE nationals and residents can expect Eid al-Fitr 2023 to fall sometime between April 20, 2023 and April 23, 2023 meaning a four-day long weekend is looking likely to occur Thursday through Sunday.

If this happens, UAE workers will be expected to return to work the following Monday, April 24.

When is Eid al-Adha 2023?

With Arafat Day expected to fall on June 27, 2023 UAE residents and Nationals can expect another four-day long weekend, with Eid al-Adha falling on June 28, 29 and 30.

When will the official announcements of the Eid al-Fitr 2023 and Eid al-Adha 2023 dates occur?

Typically, the announcements are made days before the expected dates. Arabian Business reports that the precise days of the holy month’s beginning are determined by religious scholars under the cover of night, and all expected long weekend dates are subject to change as per lunar sightings.

When is 2023’s National Day Long Weekend?

While National Day holidays will fall on December 2 and 3, a Saturday and Sunday, Commemoration Day will fall on Friday, December 1st , which means it’s looking like we’ll have a three-day long weekend in December 2023.
