As the Eid Al Fitr break comes to an end for UAE residents, we’re already looking forward to the next long weekend.
At the end of 2023, UAE cabinet confirmed the 2024 holidays for the public and private sectors, meaning we can tentatively plan all our travel adventures and activities ahead of time.
While some of the exact dates are subject to the sighting of the moon, we do know that there’s a number of festivities to mark down in our calendars.
When is The Next UAE Holiday? Public Holidays And Long Weekends 2024
Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha
Saturday, June 15, marks Arafat Day – the second day of the week-long Hajj pilgrimage. This will immediately be followed by Eid Al Adha, which is set to fall on Sunday, June 16. Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 will be subsequent holidays in the region, culminating into a four-day long weekend for UAE residents.
Islamic New Year
Ringing in a fresh start on the lunar Hijri calendar, the Islamic New Year is expected to fall on Sunday, July 7 2024. This will equate to the Islamic date of 1 Muharram 1446 AH.
The Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) Birthday
A revered figure in the Islamic faith, Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday is a national holiday in the UAE. Sunday, September 15 will mark a day of celebration.
Commemoration Day & National Day
As the year draws to a close, Commemoration Day will take place on Sunday, December 1. A day to honour Emirati heroes and martyrs, the celebration will continue on Monday December 2 and Tuesday, December 3 as the country commemorates the National Day holiday. In total, residents can enjoy four-day long weekend of entertainment and festivities.
