Bottega Veneta’s former creative director Daniel Lee made an unexpected exit days ago — and yesteay evening his prodigy, Matthieu Blazy, was given the opportunity to step forward as the new creative director. Here, Bazaar shares a few facts about the new creative mastermind behind the luxury Italian brand.
He was born in Paris
Born in Paris in 1984, Mattheiu Blazy is a French and Belgium national.
He’s thirty-seven-years old.
The newly appointed creative director is 37 years old.
He studied at a visual arts school in Belgium.
Having completed his education at L’École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre (a.k.a. La Cambre), a renowned visual arts school in Brussels, the talented fashion prodigy steps into the creative director role with a solid background of academic, practical and professional knowledge
He has worked with extraordinary designers.
According to WWD, Blazy began his creative journey working for Belgian designer Raf Simons in menswear. He rejoined forces with Raf Simons back in 2016 when working at Calvin Klein. Blazy also diversified his skillset, working alongside fashion greats such as Phoebe Philo and aforementioned designer Daniel Lee, as the senior designer at Céline.
He’s been part of the Bottega Veneta family since 2020, working as a Design Director.
Blazy’s time as the right-hand man of Daniel Lee was spent as the Design Director since he joined the house back in 2020. Within 2 years, Blazy has landed himself on the top as the Creative Director.
He will be presenting his first collection for Bottega Veneta in February 2022.
According to The National, Blazy is already busy working on his first project, which is to present his debut collection as creative director early next year, February 2022.
His vast experience has sculpted him into an attractive commodity in the fashion industry.
