How To Help Beirut: A List of Resources
Whether you’re located within the country or are looking to support from overseas, here’s a list of resources and charities supporting relief efforts
A huge blast shook the Port of Beirut yesterday evening, sending shockwaves through the city and devastating nearby neighborhoods.
According to Arabian Business, the number of dead is 154, including 25 who have not yet been identified and around 5000 people have been injured from the blast. The cause of the explosion is still unclear, however Lebanon’s Prime Minister said an investigation is to be conducted.
An estimated 2,750 tons of the explosive ammonium nitrate, which had been stored at a warehouse near the port for six years, appears to have been the cause of the explosion.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also commented on the tragedy, showing support and expressing his condolances to Lebanon in an Instagram post yesterday evening. Several resources are circulating online with information on how to best support Beirut during this incredibly difficult time.
