Downtown Design, the Middle East’s leading fair for high-quality design returns in November for its most exciting showcase yet
Astellar line-up of the most coveted contemporary brands from around the world, some of the region’s most innovative studios, never-seenbefore experiential installations by the Middle East’s foremost design houses and a roster of the international design scene A-listers, that’s Downtown Design 2019 for you. The annual design fair is set to deliver an unrivalled design experience in Dubai. Much more than a traditional design fair, Downtown Design sets the benchmark for refined living. Alongside the latest collections by marquee brands such as Kettal, Atelier Swarovski, Klove, Arper and St. Louis, the fair will shine the spotlight on a fresh selection of established studios making their debut in the region. This year’s country-focused exhibits from Italy, France, Spain and Malaysia will demonstrate the diverse perspectives informing premium design globally. Here’s a little taste of what is to come. Enjoy!
TACCHINI Style over substance, quality over fleeting fashions, Tacchini’s work is ingrained in the Italian way of design where every decision – from concept to production - is deeply considered.
Joy, surprise and awe will be in abundance at this year’s fair with Preciosa’s latest creation, the Carousel of Light. As people hug under a canopy of glowing crystal orbs, their interaction will transform childhood memories of a fairground into a mesmerising show of light.
The Barcelona-based rug makers are coveted for their inspired interpretation of the Spanish people’s love for life, delivering expressive designs created from the finest natural materials.
The Italian brand known for its brilliant marriage of high artisanship and high production with expressive colourways is coveted for masterful collaborations with leading international designers.
Engineered materials and a refined colour palette are the hallmarks of Ethimo, but it is their contemporary approach to refined outdoor living that makes the Italian brand truly special.
The bespoke kitchen makers evoke classical design archetypes like the first cast-iron wood-burning cooking stoves and counter it with natural materials, a sleek aesthetic and an industrial edge.
Minotti’s latest collections by Christophe Delcourt and GamFratesi Design will be presented by Aati, featuring a brand new creative direction and a distinctive contemporary identity.
Brokis combines handblown glass with other refined materials, such as wood and manually pressed metal in bold lighting compositions that are often inspired by life’s magical moments.
Known to work with unusual materials – sand, silca, salt and cement – the Brazilian designer will debut a limited-edition collection of mirrors inspired by the geography of Dubai.
