Dubai Now Has Its Very Own Love Lock Bridge

Move over, Paris

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the UAE’s answer to a Parisian love lock bridge is on the way. The Yard, a 350,000 square-foot extension to the Last Exit D89 in the Al Khawaneej area near Mushrif Park, will house Dubai’s ‘Promise Bridge’.

The new development by Meraas is inspired by the French capital’s Pont des Arts bridge, which was classed as one of the most romantic places in the world and saw many a proposal before the padlocks were removed in 2016.

Amongst the space, which is set to expand to 2.8 million sq ft in the future, there is also a farmer’s market, bakery and several indoor and outdoor eateries and retail outlets.

“The Yard reflects Meraas’s strong commitment to creating imaginative and exciting family-friendly destinations that provide opportunities for Dubai’s residents and visitors to share unforgettable experiences,” Meraas architect Nouf Al Mheiri said.

The Yard also boasts an 18-metre-tall windmill, a water mill, a wishing well and decorative vintage pick-up trucks, farm animals and bird houses.

Whilst the UAE certainly has no shortage of Instagram-worthy spots, we predict this new hang-out will be taking over your timelines and making their way up Instagram’s pesky algorithm in no time.
