Looking to spend the winter season admiring waterfalls and lush greenery, all while sipping coffee in a restaurant 281 meters above sea level? Then this new destination, just an hour and a half away from Dubai, is the perfect place to check out
As we make the most of the last few months of cooler weather in the UAE, Sharjah has just opened a new outdoor attraction.
With over 100,000 trees spanning an area of 1.6 million square feet and towering at a height of 281 metres above sea level, the Hanging Gardens in the Kalba enclave are the perfect spot to explore this winter.

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated the opening of the project on March 8, located on the Sharjah-Kalba Road. The project is part of a holistic development strategy in line with His Highness’ vision to enhance and improve the economic, tourism, and cultural landscape of Kalba city.

Attractions To Enjoy At The Hanging Garden In Kalba, Sharjah
The newest leisure destination has several attractions such as grassy landscapes, waterfalls, and flower gardens that adorn the terrace area.

The destination also features designated recreational areas for children, divided into three sections based on age groups, making it a great option if you’re heading out with the kids.
Children can also enjoy the excursion train, which is 520 meters long and can accommodate up to 55 people, passing through four stations. One station is located at the upper café area, while the other three are situated within the garden. Even the train station waiting areas provide visitors with plenty of opportunities to take beautiful pictures between exploring different levels of the garden.

If you are a fan of hiking and want to take in all the scenic beauty of Sharjah’s Kalba area, which is known for its greenery, cool weather and getting rain more often compared to other parts of the country, then you will want to check out the Hanging Gardens Mountain climbing routes. The paths have three varying difficulty levels, each showcasing agricultural terraces, waterfalls, lush trees, and colourful flowers along the way.

Don’t fret if hiking isn’t your thing and you are more of a runner, as the park also includes a 760-metre jogging track encircling it.
Restaurant Made Out Of Traditional Wooden Architecture
The elevated section of the Hanging Gardens hosts a restaurant constructed with traditional wooden architecture, catering to the appetite of its garden visitors. Positioned at 270 meters above sea level, this rustic eatery offers guests a breathtaking panoramic vista of the lush grounds below.
