Why A Weekend in Fujairah is Always A Good Idea | Address Beach Resort Fujairah Review

On the hunt for the perfect staycation for Valentine’s Day weekend? Bazaar Arabia’s Laura Kell shares why she’s partial to a particular seaside hotel, located only an hour and a half away from the hustle and bustle of Dubai…

In a lot of ways, 2020 was a blessing in disguise; while, mentally, it was one of the most difficult years of my life a lot of good came out of it. I landed my dream job, took on more responsibility professionally, and was forced to try out new recreational pastimes (begrudgingly, at first). With restrictions on gyms and workout classes, restaurant capacities fixed firmly in place, and the halt of social events – coupled with being cooped up for weeks on end during the lockdown – my husband and I decided to take up scuba diving that summer; it was an activity we could comfortably enjoy during the sweltering months when traveling back home seemed nearly impossible.

This was first our introduction to the emirate of Fujairah, located about two and a half hours away from Dubai by car, on the Gulf of Oman – and while the time we spent underwater was special indeed (there’s nothing more magical than swimming with sea turtles and glided through schools of rainbow fish), something was missing. The natural beauty of the emirate didn’t match the accommodation options near the diving sites; family-friendly at best and downright outdated at worst, we struggled to find a romantic getaway where we could enjoy the aquatic life during the day and world-class hospitality at night.

“This place is so amazing,” I said one evening, post-dive, as we dined on oysters and local fish at a little beachside restaurant. Why weren’t there more luxury hotels opening up out here?

Address Beach Resort Fujairah Review

Clearly, the universe heard my plea that summer, as we soon learned that the Address Beach Resort Fujairah would be opening its doors in 2021; and when we were finally able to pay a visit last autumn, it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Tucked away between the Hajar Mountains and Al Aqah Beach, it’s the perfect spot for couples looking for a staycation closer to home, one that is luxurious in an understated way, combining contemporary style with elegant design elements. Boasting not one, but three pools and a private beach the property is in an ideal location for both adventurists and those in need of a luxe repose.

For guests seeking a more private abode throughout their stay, the resort has both beach and garden villas – although the hotel rooms are equally plush, with both mountain and ocean views; seaside chic yet comfortable.

When it comes to dining out, options around the Address Beach Resort Fujairah are somewhat limited, however, The Restaurant certainly doesn’t disappoint, offering both a selection of international cuisine, locally sourced seafood and classic comfort dishes – something for everyone, though we highly recommend sampling the Dibba Bay oysters (after all, no trip to Fujairah is complete with at least trying these little delicacies.)

And the best way to unwind, after a busy day of outdoor excursions, swimming with sea turtles or, simply, relaxing by the pool? A his and her treatment at The Spa by Address Beach Resort Fujairah. With an extensive menu of options, surrendering to pure tranquility was never easier, even for those of us who can’t seem to keep anxious thoughts and the stressors of everyday life at bay.

I’m certainly saddened we won’t be spending Valentine’s Day at the Address Beach Resort Fujairah for a romantic weekend retreat – and for good reason too: from private dining options on the beach to pampering packages, it’s the ultimate destination to fall in love with both your significant other and the emirate itself.

Because, after all, a weekend in Fujairah is always a good idea… no matter the occasion.
