Hotel Principe Di Savoia: The Hotel We All Fell In Love With During Milan Fashion Week
In a city celebrated for world-leading art and design, achieving iconic status is a challenge; maintaining it is harder still. Cue Hotel Principe di Savoia
Part of Dorchester Collection’s exclusive portfolio. The hotel, a landmark of luxury in the city, has long been a favourite of royalty, A-List celebrities and seasoned travellers alike. Upon entering the grand lobby, it’s not difficult to see why. Replete with Italian charm and Art Deco flair, the property is full of character, capturing the effortless elegance embodied by Milan itself. Add in exceptional staff and a truly bespoke, personalised approach to guest relations, and its stellar reputation is well deserved.

Rooms and suites each have their own distinct personalities, but are united by the same thread of luxury DNA. Interiors are a heady mix of richly textured, opulent fabrics, exquisite antique furniture, impressively weighty silk curtains, and a beautifully curated selection of Italian art and design.

The hotel has enjoyed collaborations with designers including Celeste Dell’Anna, who designed the Imperial Suites, and Thierry Despont, who created the dramatic interiors for the bar. For her restoration of the Principe Suites, London-based Francesca Basu paid tribute to La Scala theatre’s famously opulent design. The Principe Terrace Suite, designed by Basu, is a real joy – gorgeously decadent and spacious interiors are met with a stunning large terrace complete with sunloungers and views over Piazza della Repubblica.

Glamorous, luxurious, and private, this is a veritable haven in the heart of the city. The Presidential Suite, designed by American architect Michael Stelea, has also won plaudits for its ornate décor and carefully selected furnishings inspired by Italy’s artistic heritage – think marble floors reminiscent of St Mark’s Basilica in Venice and mosaics inspired by Pompeiian villas. Elsewhere, Acanto Restaurant and Il Salotto combine first-rate hospitality with wonderful culinary experiences, whilst the Principe Bar is the ideal place to meet with friends. Iconic, indeed.
