Many a Dubai resident approaches the summer with a sense of foreboding about the stifling heat. The solution? A stay-cay-day at a luxury hotel and the Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort’s new Swim, Eat and Relax offer is just the ticket for a mini weekend escape.
The offer allows you access to the Thai-inspired resort’s private white sand beach and pool, and a set menu lunch at the Beach House restaurant. On arrival, I was immediately shown to a sun lounger on the beach underneath a capacious shady umbrella. There is a spectacular view of the Dubai skyline from the shore, yet lying there, its hustle and bustle felt blissfully distant.
The large pool is extremely child-friendly, being very shallow almost throughout. You can swim up to a poolside bar and order drinks, or call a waiter to your sun lounger, and, to help keep you cool, there are also complimentary ice lollies and refreshing water sprays.
The three-course set menu lunch at the Beach House was delicious. As the name suggests, it is located right on the beach, so you can continue to enjoy the view. Being vegetarian, I opted for a quinoa and baby spinach salad followed by a wild forest mushroom risotto. The portions were so generous that I didn’t make it to pudding, heavily tempting as the tiramisu, blueberry cheesecake and fruit salad sounded.
The Swim, Eat and Relax day does exactly what it says on the tin; a lovely way to unwind, whether you are with family and friends, or simply enjoying some indulgent time on your own.
Swim, Eat and Relax is available at Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort from Saturday to Thursday from May until July 2017. The package costs Dhs299 per person and include beach and pool access for the day, plus a set lunch at The Beach House. For more details see anantara.com
