The Pierre
The Pierre, New York: The Pierre is pretty much the definition of a perfect Upper East Side getaway. Boasting some of the best views of Central Park, this 1920s hotel has a rich history of quintessential old New York. Whether you're travelling for business or pleasure, or you're simply looking for a reason to beat the Dubai heat, this Fifth Avenue-based hotel is the luxury break that should definitely be on your radar.

Whether you’re heading to NYC for Fashion Week come February 8, you’ve got the hottest ticket in town to the annual Met Gala in May, or you’re escaping the Middle Eastern summer heat in favour of the glittering metropolis that is Manhattan, it only seems apropes to stay where luminaries have made their way in and out. Well, BAZAAR has got just the hotel for you…

The Location
Located at 2 East 61st Street sits the 41-storey Taj hotel. The Fifth Avenue-based property boasts a magnificent views of Central Park and (thanks to the Upper East Side spot in which it sits) truly elegant surroundings.

The Hotel
Having been open since 1920’s, The Pierre certainly boasts a rich history. After an impressive $100 million (Dhs367 million) renovation in 2007, the hotel reopened its doors to a black and white–marbled lobby with Art Deco and Renaissance-style motifs, luscious suites and delectable restaurants. All the hallmarks of a quintessential old New York establishment.

The Rooms
Whilst hotels rooms in NYC typically skew towards the smaller end of things, the various suites feel more like luxury apartments; each steeped in rich history and characterised by lavish furnishings and silk bed comforters (a nod to the Indian heritage of its parent company, Taj Hotels).
Top-shelf luxury is echoed in every corner – think Etro bath amenities, robes and slippers, pillow menus and good, strong WIFI (very important).
And with 189 rooms to choice from, the smaller king-sized and superiors are also a good choice; what they lack in spaciousness they more than make up for in elegant design.

The Restaurants
Housed on the ground floor, Perrine serves up delectable French fare with a bistro vibe that’ll transport you straight to Paris. Live your most authentic American getaway and make sure you order the pancakes and waffles for breakfast. And if for no other reason than to get that perfect Insta snap, head over to the Pinterest-worthy Rotunda eatery (pictured below), designed by renowned architect Daniel Romualdez.

The Verdict
With truly exceptional service, exquisite rooms outfitted with even more exquisite finishings, The Pierre is the perfect refuge of elegant tranquillity in a sea of activity.
