Excuse us for a second, we’re just off to hand in our notice.
After a successful first season, the shop will be opening up once again this October and the lucky individual will not only run the store but will also host events for hotel guests such as creative writing classes and literary lectures. They’ll also be responsible for running the shop’s social media account and writing content for the blog.
Oh, and just so you know, this is the place where Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner visited for their honeymoon so you’d probably be rubbing shoulders with a fair few celebs, too.
Soneva Fushi shared the job opening on its Instagram, saying: “BIG ANNOUNCEMENT – we’re officially accepting applications for the next barefoot bookseller! If you would like the opportunity to spend six months living in paradise running a small bookshop on an island in the Maldives at @disoversoneva, then here’s your chance…For exact details on how to apply and more information on the role, follow the link in our bio.”
The previous Barefoot Bookseller Aimée Johnson couldn’t rave about the role more, sharing on the website: “Being the Barefoot Bookseller was an absolute dream. I got to meet amazing people, work with incredible books and live on a stunning luxury island. Very much the dream job!”
The person who bags the role will have a month’s pre-departure product training with the team before flying to the Maldives for a six-month placement role in mid-October.
According to the company, you’ll need to be a team player with a passion for books, have excellent written and verbal English skills, a lively tone of voice to write an entertaining blog that captures ‘the exhilarating life of a desert island bookseller’ and the skills to host workshops and other guest experiences.
It doesn’t get much better than that – deadline for entries is September 1st, so get yours in quick!
