There’s not too long to wait until the Downton Abbey movie finally hits screens next month, and London’s Hotel Café Royal is celebrating in the most fabulous way possible with two exclusive packages that offer the ultimate British escape to discover what life was like for British aristocracy in the 1920s.

The ultimate experience for fans of the hit TV show, make like Lady Mary Crawley and head on over to Highclere Castle – the sprawling country house and estate where Downton Abbey’s Crawley family call home.

Part of The Royal Package ($8,500 including two nights in a Hotel Café Royal historic suite), you’ll be escorted there in your own private Rolls Royce or helicopter for a tour of the much-loved grounds, which means you can retire to the drawing room or stand in that very spot where Matthew proposed to Mary and re-create all your favourite scenes from the show. After a day of excitement, you’ll be transported back to the hotel for afternoon tea with a bottle of premium bubbles. Don’t mind if we do.

The next morning you’ll enjoy a tour of all the traditional British institutions such as Burberry, Fortnum & Mason, Prestat and Penhaligon’s, all of which hold the London Royal Warrant and are approved by the British royal family.
When lunchtime comes around, head to the grounds of Marlborough House - the birthplace of King George V who is expected to visit the Crawley family in the movie - for a Butler’s picnic before finishing the day with a private cocktail masterclass at the hotel’s Green Bar where you’ll learn how to master the art of 1920s-inspired mixology.

And that’s not all – they’ll even throw in a private etiquette lesson to learn how your favourite characters would have behaved in Edwardian England during an afternoon filled with history lessons, the art of conversation and how to handle flatware.

If that’s all a little too much (who are we kidding, it sounds fabulous!), the Aritsocracy Package is also available for $3,600 and includes a two-night stay in a Grand Deluxe Guestroom, a tour of Highclere Castle, a Royal Warrant shopping afternoon, afternoon tea and daily breakfast. Carson would most definitely approve.
