This Female Saudi Music Composer Who Wowed The Crowd At The Kingdom’s 90th National Day Celebrations
The talented Abeer Balubaid composed and performed two original pieces at the King Abdulaziz Center For World Culture (Ithra) on September 23
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrated its 90th National Day with performances at Ithra by talented young artists. One of the Kingdom’s first female pianists and composers, Abeer performed two pieces that she specifically composed for the event, “Tempo” and “Mystery” with Saudi Jazz Band, Alfarbai at the Ithra. The crowd enjoyed the music!
“It was important to me that these music pieces are impactful to each and every person who listens to them and to transcend geographical boundaries to reach the global listener,” Abeer says.
“My first composition is not strictly classic though it does have classical elements. The second piece is a jazz fusion. I wanted to create compositions that accurately reflected my individual appreciation of the depth of various music styles and cultures. They are an overlay of classical, jazz and blues that complement each other,” she explains.
The pianist is not just known for her talent in music but also in visual arts.
Growing up, Abeer learnt the piano on her own and enjoyed learning about the world of art and music. She studied Architecture in college and is a member of the music committee of the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and the Arts (SASCA.)
Abeer dedicates time and hard work to the things she is passionate about. A true inspiration for young women and men out there to express themselves freely and with purpose.
