Amal Clooney's Warning To Donald Trump

Leaders around the world should know better than to cross Amal Clooney. The high-powered international human rights lawyer, who has represented ISIS survivors and Julian Assange alike, knows a thing or two about how the world works. And while giving a speech at the Texas Conference for Women this week, she gave Donald Trump a stern warning about what his policies could actually mean.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney took aim at his policies that would harm Muslim Americans across the United States and the world.

"[His comments] that there should be a religious test imposed on entering the U.S. or the fact that there should be state-sponsored torture or that families of suspected terrorists should all be killed—all of those things are violations of international human rights law and the values that underlie that," she said.

She also noted that the international community is concerned about the direction the United States is going, and that the country could end up losing its "moral standing" around the world.

Clooney, along with her husband, George, were vocal supporters of Hillary Clinton. But her comments weren't all negative—she also said she was optimistic about Trump's plans to fight ISIS.

"The president-elect has said that fighting ISIS is actually a priority," she said, "so it may be that there can be progress, and obviously everyone has to respect the outcome of the democratic process here, and we have to hope for the best."
