At 630pm this evening, Dubai's landmark Water Canal project will have its grand opening.
Attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the inauguration will take place in the coming hour and will mark the start of a new era for Al Habtoor City and beyond.
The Dhs2.7 billion project features a 6km walkway, 3km jogging track, and a 12km cycle track, and is 3.2 kilometres in length. After the opening, nine water stations will be open to the public from Thursday for the new water taxi services and there are three bridges along the length of the canal for pedestrians to cross the water which represent the past, present and future.
The project is just one of many groundbreaking additions to the city ahead of Expo 2020.
