There are several things you can count on as givens at a J-Lo concert. Number one: large-scale renditions of the past two decades’ most memorable smash-hits. Another is slick, high-energy choreography, each and every move performed effortlessly by the singer herself. The third is a show-stopping wardrobe of bejewelled, sequin-encrusted costumes. And on her 2019 tour, the pop icon is bringing designs by renowned Arab names to the stage.

To mark her 50th birthday later in July, the singer has embarked upon the It’s My Party world tour. The first leg will take her to cities around the US, and then she’ll continue onto a limited number of international destinations (you can catch her performing in Al Alamein, Egypt on 9 August). On the show’s opening night in LA, she debuted two eye-catching ensembles by Lebanese designers.

The first was her opening look - a neon-green Nicolas Jebran bodysuit, adorned with 50,000 UV-reflective Swarovski gems. Way to make an entrance. She matched the one-piece with jewel-encrusted thigh-high boots by Lebanese shoe designer Andrea Wazen.

The On The Floor singer then turned to one of her go-to couturiers, Zuhair Murad, for another dazzling costume. The pop queen lit up the stage in a custom-made royal-blue ensemble: a fringe bodysuit (a J-Lo staple) and satin bomber jacket. Lopez also donned an all-white Zuhair Murad creation, from the designers spring/summer 2018 collection, in the music video for her latest single, Medicine.

Big up J-Lo for being an unfailing champion of some of our favourite Arab designers.
