Kim Kardashian has partnered up with ride-share company Lyft to reduce unemployment rates for former prisoners. The idea is to provide gift cards that will allow former prisoners to get to and from to their job interviews, work and the homes of their loved ones.
Proud to partner on this initiative with @Lyft, a company with a history of taking bold action to do what’s right for our community. Thank you for providing ride share credits to formally incarcerated people when they come home.— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) June 13, 2019
She revealed her plan during a surprise appearance at a White House event on Thursday, saying she always “wanted to make a difference and wanted to do the right thing but didn't know how or what to do." Ambitious nonetheless, she followed her passion, tweeting her excitement on her way to the White House.
Kim began her criminal reform journey when she came across the case of 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson on social media, who was in prison for life following a nonviolent drug conviction. She brought the case to Trump's attention and shortly after, Johnson was free.

"My heart just completely opened up and I wanted to do more," Kim said during her speech at the White House. Ivanka Trump posted a tweet thanking Kim for her passion.
Thank you @IvankaTrump for helping me to start this amazing journey of fighting for people who truly deserve a second chance! https://t.co/wdltrPtrFo— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) June 14, 2019
