Stella McCartney has come under fire on social media after she posted a photo of Meghan Markle wearing a coat from her A/W19 collection during the Remembrance Day service in the UK on Sunday, in a post which has since been deleted.

Followers and other users on the platform claimed that the British designer was inappropriately promoting her brand in an insensitive manner on Remembrance Sunday, the day in which the UK honours war veterans and fallen servicemembers by observing a one minute nation-wide silence.

McCartney initially shared an image of the Duchess of Sussex attending the commemoration service in London, wearing a black belted coat by the designer, who, per reports by Page Six, captioned the post: "So honoured to have HRH Duchess of Sussex in our Autumn '19 coat at Remembrance Day service. x Stella".

According to the outlet, some users praised Meghan's outfit choice, while others were outraged and accused McCartney of being disrespectful to the occasion and insensitively promoting her eponymous label. While the designer has since had the post taken down, she is yet to respond to the controversy.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined hundreds of veterans and their families at the 91st Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, to honour and remember those who lost their lives in service of their country. Their Royal Highnesses each planted a Cross of Remembrance, paying respect to those who have served in our Armed Forces. They were then honoured to spend time meeting with veterans and family members from all areas of the Armed forces - from those who have served in past campaigns to more recent conflicts. This is the seventh time The Duke has attended the Field of Remembrance – having previously accompanied The Duke of Edinburgh for several years. The Duchess of Sussex was grateful to be able to join her husband on this important day and to personally recognise those who have served. #remembrance #lestweforget

Meghan Markle has worn several of McCartney's designs in the past, most notably at her wedding reception following her wedding to Prince Harry.
