Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai has announced the first two astronauts from the UAE who will be heading to the International Space Station.

Taking to Instagram, HRH shared an image of the UAE Astronaut Program, writing that Hazza Al Mansouri and Sultan Al Nayadi will represent the Gulf in their mission, which is scheduled for April 2019.

“We announced today our first astronauts to the International Space Station: Hazza Al Mansouri and Sultan Al Nayadi,” Sheikh Mohammed posts to social media.

The news that the first UAE astronauts would visit the space station was announced earlier this year.
