Why Didn’t Kate Middleton Attend Princess Diana’s Statue Unveiling?

The Duchess of Cambridge was not spotted at the event…

The honorary statue made its debut on July 1, marking what would’ve been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday. The commemorative statue unveiling for Princess Diana, which took place in the Sunken Garden at Kensignton Palace, only saw the attendance of the two brothers Prince William and Prince Harry.

“It was always going to be the two brothers,” a royal source tells Bazaar UK, about the absence of The Duchess of Cambridge. While the event was scaled back in accordance to the COVID-19 measures in place, rumor has it that tensions were high between the family before the ceremony. “Catherine’s absence speaks volumes,” an alleged royal family source told Page Six.

This doesn’t however mean that she will not be paying her respects. A royal source tells Bazaar that Prince William will bring his wife, Duchess Kate, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis to view the statue for a private family moment, more important than a public rhetoric.

The Duchess of Sussex also did not attend the statue unveiling; she recently gave birth to her second child, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
