Fashion is clearly a way of life for 42-year-old Trevi Group CEO Eliane Amer whose look is always decidedly on point. “I won’t leave home unless I am 100 per cent happy with my outfit,” she smiles. Eliane moved to Dubai in 2006 from London where she worked as a news reporter and presenter for several years. “After moving to Dubai I established my own company. It started as a showroom for fabrics, and we kept growing. Now we have workshops in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi, specialising in fabrics, furniture, and interior design.” Eliane now lives in Jumeirah Islands – with her husband and three children Tia, 13, Adam, 12, and Sophia, two – where her eye for style transcends her work and personal life.
“I shop almost every week,” she confesses. In Dubai, her go-to stores for a reliable fashion fix are Boutique 1, Chanel and Harvey Nichols, but she’s also fluent in e-commerce speak. “I shop at Net-a-Porter, Matches Fashion, Luisa Via Roma, My Theresa...” – the list goes on testament to the spending power of a targeted right click.
At present, Eliane’s prized possession is a pair of “Saint Laurent Swarovski crystal boots,” which she bought last year. She is, of course, talking about the cult Niki boots from A/W17, seen on everyone from Rihanna to Kendall Jenner. “I also have an obsession with Hermès bags, I have been collecting them for the last 10 years and have more than 20,” she tells Bazaar.
Having developed an interest in fashion when she was a teenager, for the way “it always made me feel good happy,” Eliane’s approach to fashion is ultimately light-hearted, whilst channelling “elegance in a feminine way.”
On her S/S18 wish list a healthy portion of the Chanel ready-to-wear show. “Karl Lagerfeld is a legend and I love his designs for Chanel and Fendi.” Also on her radar are Saint Laurent’s jumpsuits, Dolce & Gabbana dresses and anything from Monse, Off-White and Alexander Wang.
When she travels, Eliane’s style ethos travels with her, whether it’s to the exclusive Maldivian island of Gili Lankanfushi, the powdered mountains of Courchevel or the heady streets of Beirut, a city she cites as being “one of the most stylish” in this region. “I’m fascinated by the way women carry themselves and dress up there,” she says.
In Dubai, Eliane flits “between the amazing restaurants in DIFC” and home, where “I like entertaining people because I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere,” she says. Ultimately, Eliane defines herself as a “simple person who enjoys the simple things in life: travel, nature, friends and family,” and she has a simple style ethos, too: “Wear what matches your personality, because your style defines who you are.”
