Nour’s obsession with fashion began early on in her life. “Since my early childhood, at just six years of age, I used to come back home from school during the lunch break and change my morning outfit. I always wanted to appreciate seeing myself looking nice and feeling good about it,” she tells Bazaar.
Since then, Nour, who runs custom handbag label Jasmine Lux, says her style has developed and incorporates elements from her heritage and home life. “Having been born and raised in a city close to Spain, I’d describe my style as a girl with Moroccan origins impregnated with Spanish and Andalusian styles,” Now based in Lebanon, Nour won’t take no for an answer when trying to source an item to add to her wardrobe. “When it comes to locating my favourite fashion piece, be it a dress or an accessory, I arm myself with a phone list of shops and the sales people I have come to know during my travels from Las Vegas to Dubai. I rely on them when the local stores are not able to provide me with my choice and size and aim to collect them in order to be able to enjoy them in their season and time.”
For Nour, shopping isn’t simply an activity, but rather a way of carefully curating her wardrobe and making friends in the process. “I have a huge wardrobe, and I love every piece I buy because it is never bought on impulse but rather researched, selected and appreciated before it is purchased, from the smallest brands to the most prestigious. I am a professional shopper. I enjoy my frequent trips worldwide with my husband, and I enjoy building my list of new shops and new friends who work in them, from Milan to Paris, LA and New York.”
We ask what the criteria for her purchases are and Nour says, “I have an overall weakness for beautiful pieces. I am not a collector of specific brands but a collector of beautiful items that age nicely.” This season those items include runway dresses from Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana, as well as Aquazzura, Brian Atwood, and Charlotte Olympia shoes.
And whilst the catwalk items may have been seen before, Nour ensures she accessorises in her own unique way to cement her individual style. “My favourite jewellery pieces are from a small Italian store in San Remo. I find modern and vintage pieces there, rarely seen anywhere else, thus making my pieces unique. It’s my little secret store.”
