Currently based in LA, Roxy Sowlaty describes herself as “interior designer and influencer.” Her seemingly enviable life, natural beauty and easy style has amassed the pint-sized (she’s 5ft 1in) style star almost 500,000 followers on Instagram. And although LA is where she calls home for now, Roxy’s Persian heritage means she visits the Middle East regularly, where she thinks “the fashion is the most fabulous!” She’s always been intrigued by fashion, ever since her mother “allowed my sister and I to dress ourselves. She never placed any styling limits on us and praised my fashion exploration and attempts. She is also glamorous and well dressed so that definitely helped.”
Roxy’s own style is constantly evolving. “Having been the girl who was always in a colourful floral dress, I am now much more conservative and attracted to more tailored things. My partner, Nicolas Bijan (of the renowned Rodeo Drive-based menswear label Bijan) has really inspired me and my style so much. The construction of the suits and jackets and the tailoring and prints are things that I have been trying to incorporate into my own style, but in a feminine way. I have stolen a good number of his sports coats and altered them to fit myself,” Roxy smiles, adding that she has to alter everything to fit her petite, size-zero frame.
Jewellery is high on Roxy’s priority list of daily add-ons, alternating between “my yellow-gold Presidential Rolex, my stainless steel Royal Oak Audemars Piguet and my Patek Philippe Aquanaut, which is my current everyday favourite.” She also cherishes a blue lapis Van Cleef & Arpels pendant bought in Paris, and a Bulgari rose gold Serpenti ring with a multi-colour eternity band “that my mom bought me on our travels in Europe.”
Handbags also hold a special place in Roxy’s heart. “From middle school with my Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse, and then Marc Jacobs and Takashi Murakami (for LV), I then graduated to Chanel bags in college, and now I invest mostly in Hermès.” Her bag buy for S/S18? “The clear rainbow PVC Chanel bag is everything!”
Knowing when to switch off, Roxy loves to travel in a bid to “reset, recharge and seek inspiration. Paris is the most stylish place for me, as there are no limits. There are women in ball gowns having lunch next to you and then at the next table there are the most minimally-dressed women, who are equally chic and inspiring.”
Roxy Sowlaty wears vintage top, Topshop trousers, Gianvito Rossi shoes, Dior bag and scarf, and jewellery, all Roxy’s own.
