Ahead of this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York, Bazaar hung out with the Angels backstage –  to talk all things fashion, beauty, fitness and the one question every Insta girl always wants to know: how do you take the perfect selfie?

Former Bazaar cover star and supermodels Shanina Shaik, Elsa Hosk, Jourdana Phillips and Leomie Anderson reveal their top tips. If it’s good enough for them…

1) Lighting Is Everything: “This is the first and most important aspect. Always try and use natural light. If you’re indoors, find a window when it’s daylight. This will brighten your face and minimise shadows for the ultimate insta-worthy shot.”

2) Angels Know Their Angels: “Find your good side! Look up towards the camera and keep your chin down to get the best selfie.”

3) Keep It Straight: “If you’re lucky enough to have bagged the new iPhone XS, take the new lighting setting (on portrait mode) for a spin and thank me later.”

4) Do it At Arm’s Length: “Ditch the selfie stick! Hold your phone slightly higher than eye level, bend your elbow ever so slightly and snap.”
5) Smile Like You Mean It: “There’s nothing prettier than a genuine smile.”
